Privacy Policy — Alarm++

  Short version: Alarm++ does not collect, store, or share any personal data.
  The app works entirely on your device. The only third-party data collection is by Google AdMob,
  which serves ads to free-tier users — this is governed by Google's own privacy policy.

1. Who We Are

Alarm++ is developed and maintained by Attila Torda as an independent personal project. If you have any privacy-related questions, contact us via the in-app feedback form or at the email address associated with the app's Play Store listing.

2. Data We Collect

We collect no personal data. Alarm++ does not require an account, does not transmit any data to our servers, and does not use analytics or crash reporting beyond what Google AdMob collects (see §4).

All data you enter in the app (alarm names, schedules, medicine reminders, saved locations) is stored exclusively on your device using Android's local database (Room/SQLite) and SharedPreferences. This data never leaves your device.

3. Permissions Used

Location (fine & background) — used solely to trigger geo-location alarms when you enter a saved area. Location data is processed on-device only and is never transmitted anywhere.
Camera — used only when you set up a QR code, barcode, or face-recognition alarm challenge. No images or video are stored or transmitted.
Notifications & alarms — used to fire alarm notifications and medicine reminders at the scheduled times.
Internet — used only to (a) load ads via Google AdMob (free tier) and (b) submit feedback via the in-app feedback form (only when you explicitly tap Send).
Receive boot completed — used to reschedule alarms after the device restarts.
Vibrate, foreground service, wake lock — used to ensure alarms fire and wake the screen reliably.

4. Google AdMob (Third-Party Advertising)

The free tier of Alarm++ displays banner advertisements served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage data to serve personalised ads in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy.

You can opt out of personalised advertising at any time via your device settings: Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalisation.

Users who purchase Alarm++ Premium will no longer see ads and are not subject to AdMob data collection within the app.

5. In-App Feedback Form

If you choose to send feedback via the in-app form, the message text and the feedback category you select are transmitted to our feedback service (Formspree) and delivered to our support email. No other information is collected. Sending feedback is entirely voluntary.

6. Children's Privacy

Alarm++ is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. The app contains advertising (via AdMob) that is not specifically targeted at children.

7. Disclaimer — Alarm Reliability

Alarm++ relies on Android's alarm and notification systems, which are subject to device manufacturer restrictions, battery optimisation settings, and operating system behaviour that is outside our control. We cannot guarantee that every alarm will fire at the exact scheduled time, or at all, under all device configurations.

In particular:

Some manufacturers (e.g. Xiaomi MIUI/HyperOS, Huawei EMUI, Samsung OneUI) aggressively restrict background processes. You may need to whitelist Alarm++ in your device's battery settings for reliable operation.
Do not rely solely on Alarm++ for time-critical situations such as taking medication, catching a flight, or any other event where missing an alarm could have serious consequences.

8. Disclaimer — Geo-Location Accuracy

Geo-location alarms use your device's GPS and network sensors to detect when you enter a saved area. Location accuracy depends on hardware quality, satellite visibility, and environmental conditions. GPS accuracy is typically 5–50 metres but may be significantly worse indoors, underground, or in dense urban environments.

Additionally, background location access may be restricted by device manufacturers or Android power-saving features, which can delay or prevent geo-alarms from triggering. We cannot be held responsible for missed geo-alarms caused by device-level restrictions or inaccurate location data.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
